BATHROOMS BOOK YOUR FREE HOME SURVEY MESSAGE US ON WHATSAPP SHOWERS, WET ROOMS, EN-SUITES & LUXURY

A wet room is only as good as what’s under the tiles.

Wet rooms & walk-in showers
the part nobody photographs

Tiles and grout are not waterproof; the membrane is. A JBM wet room is built in layers: a pre-formed former cut into the floor – between the joists on timber, screed falls on concrete, not tile adhesive and optimism – then a tanking system of primer, membrane and reinforced tape to every corner, junction and pipe penetration, carried up the walls past the wet zone. A linear channel or centre drain with a real fall, flood-tested before a single tile goes down.

Not sure between a full wet room, a walk-in shower or a shower over the bath? We’ll talk you through the trade-offs at survey. And accessible doesn’t need to look clinical: level thresholds, slip-rated tiles, grab rails fixed into reinforced substrate, fold-flat seats and thermostatic anti-scald valves, designed into the room rather than bolted on.

Showers worth having
and the pressure problem

Thermostatic mixers, digital showers you can start from your phone, rainfall heads with a handset, and frameless 8mm or 10mm glass. But a stunning shower on a gravity-fed system will trickle: water pressure and flow catch people out, so we measure both at survey. If the system can’t deliver, we’ll tell you the honest remedies – a pump, an unvented cylinder or a new boiler – before you buy the shower, not after.

En-suites & cloakrooms
Small rooms, hardest to get right

You can hide sloppy work in a big bathroom.

You can’t in a cloakroom.

A shower, WC and basin are workable in around 1.5m x 2m – and we’ve done tighter – with the space usually found in a bedroom corner, a landing cupboard or a box room.

An en-suite done well reliably adds value to a Midlands home; a cramped, badly plumbed one is worse than none.

The waste strategy is the whole job: gravity to the soil stack with a proper fall where possible, a macerator only where it isn’t – they make loft en-suites and under-stairs cloakrooms possible, but need power, the right pan and servicing.

Noise is planned for (no cistern refill at 3am), extraction is non-negotiable, and the small-room tricks earn their keep: wall-hung WCs, concealed cisterns, slimline basins as shallow as 25cm, sliding doors, one full-height tiled wall and a big mirror.

Typically four to eight days on site.

Luxury & bespoke
what “luxury” actually means to us

Not gold taps. Centre-line setting out, the shower valve at the right height, a grout colour that still looks right in five years, and a dead-straight silicone line. That’s the standard we held across all eighteen bathrooms at The Barns, Stafford.

FREESTANDING BATHS
Stone-resin or cast-iron can top 400kg full – we check and strengthen the joists, and set floor-standing filler pipework precisely before tiling.
There’s one attempt at that.

BRASSWARE
Chrome, brushed nickel, brushed brass, aged brass, matt black, gunmetal. One rule: commit to one finish across taps, shower, waste, towel rail and door furniture. Living brass will patina – we show you samples first.

SURFACES
Large-format porcelain slabs up to three metres – near-zero porosity, no sealing, fewer grout lines – are our recommended default. Natural marble and limestone patina beautifully but need sealing. Book-matched slabs must be planned at design stage.

UNDERFLOOR HEATING & LIGHTING
Electric mats for retrofits, wet systems where there’s screed – zoned, thermostatted and specified alongside the floor build-up. Lighting in layers: task light at face height, dimmable ambient, accent LED under a floating vanity, low-level night lighting – all IP-rated and certified.

BESPOKE DETAILS
Joinery to your dimensions, niches aligned to tile courses, steam showers, integrated audio, Crittall-style screens – and honest pushback on ideas that work better in your head than in your room.
