Design & build • one company owns the result

A showroom design, merchant products and a separate fitter means three people pointing at each other when something’s wrong. With JBM it’s one contract, one price, one company: if the vanity is the wrong depth, that’s our mistake to fix, not your problem to referee.

It starts with the survey: soil stack position and achievable waste falls, joist direction, water pressure and flow (which determines your shower options), boiler and heating, window position and light – plus the lifestyle questions, including whether anyone will need level access in ten years. Then you get a full specification with every item named – tiles by name and size, brassware finish, lighting, extraction, glass, even the grout colour – and an itemised quotation. Free, no obligation, and yours to keep even if you go elsewhere.

Design is where the money is earned: tiles set out from a centre line so you never get a 20mm sliver cut, mirror lighting that doesn’t shadow your face, a concealed cistern to lengthen the room, and budget steered towards the shower valve and brassware rather than the bath.

The installation, day by day

1. STRIP OUT & PROTECTION
Floors and staircase protected, old suite and tiles away, walls taken back to a proper substrate.

2. FIRST FIX PLUMBING & ELECTRICS
Pipework to the new positions, shower valve set at the right depth, cables for lighting, extraction and underfloor heating. The stage nobody sees, and the stage that decides whether the bathroom works.

3. BOARDING, TANKING & PREPARATION
Tile backer board, floors flattened, wet areas tanked.

4. TILING
Set out from the middle, not from a corner, so cuts land where they should.

5. SECOND FIX, SNAG & HANDOVER
Suite, brassware, glass and lighting connected, sealed and tested. Then we walk the room with you, put right anything we’ve spotted, clean properly and hand over the paperwork.

Most domestic installations land in one to two weeks. Everyone on the job – plumber, Gas Safe engineer, electrician, tiler – works for JBM, held together by your named lead engineer. You never have to co-ordinate or chase anybody.

Renovation • back to brick
built the way it should have been the first time

If your layout works and you just want it to look better, you want a refurbishment – less expensive, quicker, and we’ll say so. Renovation is for rooms that are fundamentally the wrong shape. It means going back to brick, rethinking the space and rebuilding it: losing the bath for a large walk-in shower, moving the WC to a stud wall with a concealed cistern, wall-hung fittings so the floor runs unbroken, stealing 30cm from a landing cupboard nobody uses.

We do a lot of work in older Midlands housing stock, and we know what hides behind the plaster: rotten joists under the old bath, lead supply pipe, awkward soil stacks, lath ceilings, wiring with no RCD. None of it is scaremongering – it’s just what old houses are. The difference is whether your fitter finds it, shows you, prices it and fixes it, or covers it up with a nice tile and lets it become your problem in three years.

Refurbishment • the lightest touch

Keep the layout, change everything you look at: new suite to existing connections, retiling to a sound substrate, new brassware, IP-rated downlights, a demister mirror, a frameless screen and a towel rail. Because nothing structural moves, most refurbishments take five to eight days – in and out inside a fortnight. Most bathroom companies will happily sell you a full renovation; we’ll tell you when you don’t need one. Spend where it matters: a good thermostatic shower valve is worth twice its price, and quality acrylic baths are fine.

Guaranteed, and checked at every stage

A named lead engineer from survey to handover, work checked at every stage, all certificates and warranties in your hand on the day we finish, and workmanship defects acknowledged the same day and fixed free. Fully insured, Gas Safe registered.
